| The town is built on a rocky outcrop,
surrounded by the woods in the Timone valley and
fields. The main street is flanked by prettily painted
houses and palaces. After the main square with its
fountain, the road becomes very narrow and crosses
a bridge just before the old gate. It then opens
up again in a square by the Rocca Farnese, currently
privately owned and in the process of restoration.
It takes its name from the Farnese family that ruled
the whole area in the 15th - 17th Centuries.
